Manchester United are interested in FC Barcelona’s Memphis Depay, it has been reported.
Depay joined the Spanish powerhouse on a free transfer last summer after his contract with Lyon expired.
He went on to open 2021/22 as Barca’s main striker, scoring four and assisting two in his first eight La Liga outings of the campaign.
However, due to a combination of injury, a change in manager and a busy January for Barcelona, Depay is now very much a fringe option.
The 28-year-old has scored twice in his last five league games of 2021/22, but he struggled to complete 90 minutes in any of those matches.
Instead, La Blaugrana have been relying on Ferran Torres and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for most of their goals.
Barca have also since completed the signing of Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich, pushing Depay even further down the attacking pecking order.
As a result, it is not too surprising to see that Depay is being tipped for a Camp Nou exit this summer.
Manchester United are interested in reuniting with Depay, and the Catalan club are already weighing up two offers for their out-of-favour star, it has been reported.
Transfer expert Gerard Romero claims that United have ‘always been interested’ in launching a concrete swoop for Depay this summer.
Two unnamed Premier League sides have also already tabled bids to Barca, but both fell short of the £17m asking price.
